Think & Grow Thin - A Book Review

Bringing your mind and body together to lose weight is the subtitle for this quick read by Dr. Becky Gillaspy. It is an excellent piece for anyone looking to lose weight. Think & Grow Thin leverages the wonderful title Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill decades ago. Think & Grow Thin is about 20 pages and provides excellent insights. Dr. Gillaspy has been involved in health care dating back to 1991 and she has authored a large volume of material over the years.

You'll immediately see her wisdom in the introduction and the layout of the chapters makes it a lunchtime read that I would encourage anyone to read.

The gems in her piece include:

Building Hunger Awareness...where she offers a full list of reasons we turn to food. By identifying with these, you can begin to think and control your thoughts and feelings which empower your actions.

Disarming Temptation...and frankly the advice in this section could apply whether you are trying to lose weight or quit smoking or master other behaviors; you'll discover how to recognize your triggers and stop temptation before it strikes.

Letting go of old habits...and she'll show how to do this without the need for willpower.

Controlling Overeating...where she'll provide you practical ways to stop overeating once you start. These are critical tools to help ensure you manage your caloric intake - and again, without the need for willpower.

And as she brings it to a close, you'll be turned on to other works including what I would bet is a quality weight loss program for those that are ready to finally find success on their weight loss journey: a special Speed Dieting Course.

As Dr. Gillaspy explains: "The true secret to permanent weight loss is combining a diet plan that allows you to still eat fun foods with an exercise strategy you enjoy and a systematic step-by-step way to create new thoughts and beliefs that support your weight loss efforts."

I was thrilled to find this piece as I love quick reads that are simple and insightful. Life doesn't have to be complex. She recognizes how important 'thoughts' are to weight loss and she provides clarity around how you can easily embrace your desire to lose weight. While I do not have experience with her other works, you can bet that I am going to be checking them out.

And as I always say, grab a strong vision of who you want to become. Let The Vision Empower You!
